ABOUT THE

Program

The‌ ‌Bachelor’s‌ ‌degree‌ ‌in‌ ‌Mathematics‌ ‌from‌ ‌the‌ Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS)‌ ‌is‌ ‌an‌ undisputed‌ ‌leader‌ ‌in‌ ‌training,‌ ‌leadership‌ ‌and‌ ‌participation‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌teaching‌ ‌and‌ ‌learning‌ ‌processes‌ ‌ of‌ ‌mathematics.‌ ‌This‌  program‌ ‌responds‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌growing‌ ‌need‌ ‌for‌ ‌qualified‌ ‌personnel‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌ teaching‌ ‌of‌ ‌mathematics‌ ‌not‌ ‌only‌ ‌in‌ ‌Santander‌ ‌or‌ ‌the‌ ‌northeast‌ ‌region‌ ‌but‌ ‌throughout‌ ‌the‌ ‌country.‌ ‌

The‌ ‌School‌ ‌of‌ ‌Mathematics‌ ‌has‌ ‌been‌ ‌offering‌ ‌this‌ ‌program‌ ‌for‌ ‌approximately‌ ‌35‌ ‌years.‌ ‌Its‌ ‌graduates‌ ‌are‌ ‌today‌ ‌the‌  ‌mathematics teachers‌ ‌in‌ ‌Santander,‌ ‌the‌ ‌northeast‌ ‌region‌ ‌and‌ ‌many‌ ‌of‌ ‌ them‌ ‌have‌ ‌continued‌ ‌studies‌ ‌of‌ ‌specialization,‌ ‌master‌ ‌and‌ ‌doctorate‌ ‌both‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌field‌ ‌of‌ ‌ mathematical‌ ‌education‌ ‌and‌ ‌in‌ ‌pure‌ ‌or‌ ‌applied‌  mathematics,‌ ‌which‌ ‌is‌ ‌why‌ ‌most‌ ‌of‌ ‌them‌ ‌work‌ ‌as‌ ‌teachers‌ ‌at‌ ‌universities‌ ‌of‌ ‌national‌ ‌and‌ ‌international‌ ‌prestige. ‌

The applicant to study the Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) must feel comfortable with mathematics, have the required skills to assimilate its study, and show a particular interest in pedagogy.

Likewise, they must possess a spiritual service, empathy, and creativity since their professional performance will revolve around the guidance of learning processes in young people and children.

These qualities, added to an outstanding academic rigor and wide knowledge of science, will guarantee successful educational work for all graduates.

  • To build a vision and pedagogical attitude that will allow him and his students to be oriented towards the understanding and transforming of reality through mathematics.

  • To convert mathematical knowledge into educational potential based on its structure and content, highlighting its social and cultural value.

  • To be critical of information sources and achieve pedagogical mastery of modern media.

  • To spread the recreational aspect of mathematics by creating pedagogical environments that allow him and his students to explore the mathematical world in a creative and enthusiastic way.

The Bachelor of Mathematics is focused on mathematical education, especially at the middle level. Likewise, they are committed to orienting young people in educational environments typical of our context, both rural and urban, public and private, either in the province or in the cities. The Bachelor of Mathematics will serve as an agent of change in the teaching and mathematical knowledge of the communities because they are the bearer of new concepts and pedagogical innovations that allow their students to visualize new vital perspectives.
