ABOUT THE

Program

The nursing program of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) seeks the integral training of professionals with high scientific, technological, and research quality; able to provide care to individuals, families, and groups; contributing to the improvement of health and well-being at the regional, national and international levels.

The program is oriented towards the training of a competent professional, with a cognitive and procedural mastery for the approach of human responses to health problems, at different stages of the human life cycle, through the Nursing Process tool.

In addition, it seeks to ensure that each of its students and graduates is committed to addressing those social, economic, and political aspects that influence the health sector for the provision of nursing care. It also provides the tools that promote leadership in the administration and management of health services and nursing research processes.

The UIS Nursing graduate will be a professional with a comprehensive education, aware of the importance of its improvement and growth to ensure its personal and professional realization; committed to the social, economic, political, and environmental context that influences the health sector for the provision of nursing care; connoisseur and respectful of beliefs, customs, and values in the perception and improvement of the health of himself, of the individual, the family, and community.

For this, it is necessary to:

  • Understand nursing as a science of care that brings significant benefits to the health sector.
  • Understand the basics of nursing care that underpin the being, knowledge, and work of the nurse.
  • Apply theories related to nursing care in the management of care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of the disease contributing to the quality of life of individuals, families, and communities.
  • Apply the nursing process and standardized language as a methodological tool to provide care.
  • Include the national health situation and its humanistic scientific requirements for the development of the profession, with an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral vision.
  • Master the fundamentals of the nursing process and standardized language for addressing human responses to health problems, at different stages of the human life cycle in various areas of performance.
  • Design and implement programs that promote and promote health, well-being, and care at different stages of the life cycle.
  • Manage and manage health and nursing care services
    Show sensitivity to overall health problems and nursing care in particular
  • Participate in interdisciplinary teams for health promotion, prevention, care, and rehabilitation of the disease through nursing care.
  • Assume personal responsibility, teamwork, and leadership as elements that enable you to successfully engage in social interactions.
  • Show that they are an ethical citizen, creative, and committed to the care of the environment and the reality of the health of the country.
