about the
Program
The professional training of Nutritionists and Dietitians at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) responds to the demands of the social, political, and economic environment of the country. Through the use of a competency-based training model, from which the integrality of the individual is considered and in addition to cognitive learning, skills are discovered and developed, the strengthening of values, the incorporation of socio-affective and attitudinal dimensions, ethics, responsibility towards oneself, others and the environment, to be able to insert themselves in society as citizens aware of the responsibility generated by being professionals and intervening in the solution of problems in the food and nutritional order that obey the current world.

The Nutritionists and Dietitians from UIS are high-quality professionals, they are autonomous, ethical, and responsible. As citizens, they are committed, and as professional, they are leaders in the competent teamwork to:
- Advise on the selection, promotion and production of safe and nutritious food.
- Manage food and nutrition services for healthy and sick communities.
- Plan to monitor and evaluate nutritional and food care for healthy individuals during the human evolutionary cycle.
- Plan to monitor and evaluate nutritional and food care, for the treatment and rehabilitation of individuals with health and nutrition problems.
- Administer food and nutrition programs considering the socio-economic and cultural factors of the population.
- Administer nutrition education programs for different audiences, considering the cognitive process, psychological well-being, health and nutritional status of individuals.
- Interpret the fundamentals of research: scientific, statistical, and epidemiological method, to generate knowledge in food and nutrition and communicate its results.
