Program

Social Work is the profession-discipline that aims to knowledge the problems, interrelationships, and social processes with individuals, families, groups, communities, and organizations, to identify alternatives of professional intervention that promote human well-being, change, and transformation towards a more just, democratic, participatory and respectful society of human rights.

The problems faced by Social Workers in their field of performance include social and political violence, environmental deterioration, family violence, deteriorating health, educational problems, poverty and social exclusion, gender inequity, forced displacement, unemployment and underemployment, human rights violations, population with disabilities, intercultural conflicts, violation of children’s rights, among others.

  • With notorious skill in human relationships, that allows him to easily relate to every level of the population.
  • With a good level of abstract reasoning that facilitates the understanding and analysis of the social reality being intervened.
  • No difficulty with reading comprehension. With the ability to express yourself verbally and in writing.
  • Proven emotional maturity.

The graduates of the academic program of social work from Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) are professionals with skills-oriented towards the know-how and knowing how to coexist:

National Council of Social Work

The National Council of Social Work is the institution that issues the professional registry and hears and punishes complaints filed for professional misconduct (Articles 6 and 8 of Law 53 of 1977).
