ABOUT THE

Program

The Artificial Intelligence Engineering program trains professionals capable of designing, developing, and implementing intelligent systems that recognize patterns, classify data, predict outcomes, make autonomous decisions, and generate language and images.

It encompasses mathematics, computing, data science, cognition, and human-centered design. The curriculum includes machine learning, deep learning, and reinforcement learning, along with training in ethics, social responsibility, technical communication, project management, and innovation—addressing the challenges of an ever-evolving technological environment.

The Artificial Intelligence Engineering academic program is open to all graduates of secondary education in Colombia or its equivalent abroad.
It is designed for individuals with an interest in and aptitude for technology, who are motivated to solve computational problems through the foundational and technological principles of mathematics, computer science, and engineering in order to build intelligent systems. Applicants should also demonstrate a desire to create, innovate, and contribute to the generation of new knowledge with social impact at both national and international levels.

Likewise, candidates are expected to show motivation to work in collaborative and interdisciplinary environments, and to be autonomous, responsible, and ethical citizens in the practice of their profession.

Graduates of the Artificial Intelligence Engineering program at the Universidad Industrial de Santander are well-rounded professionals capable of analyzing complex problems in the computational field, applying principles from computer science, mathematics, science, statistics, and engineering to identify innovative and effective solutions.

They will possess the skills to design, implement, and evaluate solutions based on artificial intelligence technologies, meeting the specific needs of various sectors within the program’s context. In addition, graduates will develop AI solutions with a human-centered approach, taking into account the social, cultural, and ethical implications of their work.

They will communicate effectively with multidisciplinary audiences, fostering collaboration and the integration of diverse knowledge areas. Their ethical and responsible approach, combined with teamwork and leadership skills, will enable them to make informed decisions and work in collaborative environments. They will apply rigorous experimental methods for data analysis and demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning to remain at the forefront of this ever-evolving field.
