ABOUT THE

Program

The Bachelor’s degree in Literature and Spanish Language from UIS trains competent professionals in the processes of research, reflection, and language teaching, through the development of communication skills that allow them to intervene as agents of change in the educational, political, social, and economic reality of the country.

The program offers educational experiences for its students to have citizen commitment within the educational system and to contribute to the common welfare, from their area of knowledge, of the socio-cultural environment in which they work.

The bachelor’s degree is developed through processes aimed at strengthening among its students the autonomy to learn, research, and critically analyze the socio-cultural demands on language, literature, and communication.

Applicants to the Bachelor's degree in Literature and Spanish Language of the UIS must have high communicative, literary, and interpretative skills and a strong interest in pedagogy, literature didactics, and language research with academic rigor. Likewise, applicants must demonstrate a special tolerance towards multilingualism and cultural diversity to expand their knowledge frontiers, which will allow them to access other cultural, linguistic, and literary practices.

The Graduate in Spanish Literature and Language from UIS is an educator capable of mediating processes of teaching, learning, and evaluation of literature and language as a transversal axis of meaning, communication, and human knowledge.

Our graduates are committed to training whole people who contribute, through proper language management, to the knowledge and taste for literature, to fostering self-respect and for others, to the preservation of the environment and cultural diversity for the construction of lasting peace.

The components, curriculum content, and competencies developed during the Bachelor's degree in Literature and Spanish Language of the UIS offer the student the acquisition of solid conceptual criteria and social, communicative, and professional skills necessary to optimally face the world of work and respond to the needs of their environment. In this way, the educational process supports and enables the projection of our students as future graduates in the fields of research, creation, and teaching.
