ABOUT THE
Program
The Technical Program in Judicial Management and Criminal Investigation focuses on the study of criminality in support of the administration of justice. It is based on the integration of the following areas of knowledge: Procedural Law, Public Law, Private Law, Criminal Investigation, and Forensic Sciences.
The program lasts six academic semesters (3 years) and is offered in a distance learning modality. Classes are held on weekends and, depending on demand, may also be offered on weekdays from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (only at the Bucaramanga Campus).
Program Locations: Bucaramanga, Barbosa, Barrancabermeja, Málaga, and Socorro | SNIES 118090 | Official Registration: Resolution 009071 of May 7, 2025, issued by the Ministry of National Education (MEN), which renews the official registration. Approved by the Academic Council through Agreement 050 of 2023, valid for 7 years.

Prospective students of the Technical Program in Judicial Management and Criminal Investigation are expected to demonstrate:
Proficiency in the use of ICT tools and effective time management.
Willingness to work collaboratively in teams.
Abilities to learn, identify and analyze problems, apply knowledge to solve them, and engage in continuous learning.
Competence in reading, interpreting, arguing, listening, and communicating both orally and in writing.
Strong values such as respect, discipline, and responsibility.
Interest in tasks related to criminal investigation and the administration of justice.
Once candidates are admitted to the corresponding cohort, the institution will assess the expected competencies and provide access to various support activities and leveling programs for those who do not meet the required levels. These include the SEA – Academic Excellence System, induction activities for distance and virtual programs, academic advising, SEA Language, among others.

Profile

Graduates of the Technical Program in Judicial Management and Criminal Investigation at UIS are competent individuals capable of supporting, executing, applying, and utilizing a wide range of techniques, procedures, and resources in judicial and administrative activities at both regional and national levels. They possess knowledge and foundational skills in criminal investigation and forensic sciences, integrated with key elements of substantive and procedural law in both public and private law domains.
From this perspective, the profile of the Technologist in Judicial Management and Criminal Investigation is defined by the integration of the following expected learning outcomes upon completion of their academic training:
Carry out procedures to manage actions before administrative authorities at both the central and territorial levels, using appropriate techniques and in accordance with current regulations.
Carry out procedures to manage judicial actions and constitutional remedies that do not require legal representation, based on relevant knowledge and techniques aligned with current legislation.
Conduct investigations into criminal acts that contribute to clarifying the facts within the framework of judicial proceedings.
Support the investigation of punishable offenses, within the framework of judicial police procedures.
Prepare reports in the fields of criminal investigation and forensic sciences, based on specialized knowledge and techniques from these disciplines.
Work collaboratively as part of a team, as a result of the educational training strategy, while demonstrating responsibility and ethical commitment.
Understand the rights and duties of a citizen, grounded in the knowledge of the Political Constitution of Colombia and the ethical standards of the profession.
Additionally, in line with the institutional mission, a UIS graduate is expected to demonstrate a comprehensive education, reflected in the following qualities:
A professional with strong ethical and civic values.
A professional capable of innovation, as a result of their research-oriented training.
