ABOUT THE
Program
The Tourism and Hospitality Business Administration program at the Universidad Industrial de Santander, Socorro Campus, trains well-rounded professionals capable of leading, innovating, and transforming the tourism sector from a business-oriented, sustainable, and human-centered perspective. With a solid foundation in administration, economics, finance, marketing, and human talent management, integrated with core knowledge of tourism and hospitality, the program responds to current sector dynamics and to the needs of the territory and the country.
Its competency- and learning-outcomes-based curriculum integrates applied research, real-world projects, and close collaboration with the productive sector, strengthening employability and entrepreneurship. The program’s focus on sustainability, innovation, interculturality, and service quality prepares students to generate positive impact in communities, protect heritage, and manage competitive tourism organizations in local, national, and international contexts.

Applicants to the Tourism and Hospitality Business Administration program at the Universidad Industrial de Santander are expected to demonstrate academic and personal skills in critical reading, writing, creativity, sensitivity toward nature and the environment, ease in human relations, leadership, entrepreneurship, and teamwork, as well as motivation to integrate knowledge for the development, strengthening, and improvement of the tourism sector and territories.
To demonstrate the training, skills, and abilities mentioned above, the Tourism and Hospitality Business Administration program adopts the admissions process established in Agreement No. 222 of 2014 of the University Academic Council. This Agreement sets forth the admission criteria for on-campus undergraduate academic programs and, specifically, Article 3 establishes that admission is based on academic merit, measured by the scores obtained by the applicant on the Saber 11° State Examination, in accordance with the selection and admission criteria outlined in Section 5.2.2 of this document. These criteria allow verification that the applicant possesses the following competencies:
Competencies to understand, interpret, and evaluate texts encountered in everyday life and in non-specialized academic contexts.
Competencies to address situations that can be solved through the use of basic mathematical tools.
Civic competencies to understand the social world from the perspective of the social sciences and to situate this understanding as a reference for the exercise of one’s role as a citizen.
Ability to analyze different events, arguments, positions, concepts, models, dimensions, and contexts, as well as the capacity to reflect and issue critical judgments.
