about the
Program
The Microbiology and Bioanalysis Program emerges from the Bacteriology and Clinical Laboratory Program as a comprehensive training proposal in a modern, open, flexible, and relevant curriculum; recontextualized with the transformations of health, science, technology, and education in the country and the world.
Scientific and technological advancement forced the application of an innovative, inclusive and congruent educational model, combining conceptual and methodological elements from different areas of knowledge, training ethical, legal, suitable, competent, and competitive professionals in microbiology and biological analysis from different fields of action. For this reason, Microbiology and Bioanalysis were chosen as the most suitable name for the reformed curriculum and that will be under the guiding principles of the modern School of Microbiology of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS)

The Microbiology and Bioanalysis program of the Universidad Industrial de Santander seeks that its applicants have an interest in biological sciences, in the study of microorganisms that are related to the processes of health and disease, environment, industry, in the care and promotion of health and also, that they have an interest in interdisciplinary work both in diagnostic support and in research.
Additionally, the program seeks people with observation, analytical, ethical, committed, social sensitivity, ability to make commitments, good interpersonal relationships, critical attitude towards knowledge and who enjoy working in the laboratory and outside it.

The Microbiologist and Bioanalyst from UIS is a professional with integral training, with high ethical and moral values, with responsibility and sense of practical and economic, with capacity for analysis and synthesis, with an innovative attitude to make sound decisions, able to relate and assume positions of management, management, and leadership within the different areas of health, industry, and environment.
The Microbiologist and Bioanalyst will be trained with criteria of autonomy to generate his own thought and develop creativity, aware of the political, social, and economic reality of the environment in which he performs, committed to the national problem in the generation of practical solutions required by the country, ready to face and adapt skillfully to new situations involving himself in change with a mentality of service, aware of the need to conserve the environment and natural resources.

The National Ministry of Education renews the High-Quality Accreditation to the Microbiology and Bioanalysis Program for the term of six years, by Resolution No. 02897 on February 21, 2018.
