ABOUT THE
Program
The School of Economics and Administration, guided by the logic of the new global economic, social, and political structure, is committed to the interdisciplinary education of future economists with high-level qualifications, capable of leading the transformations needed in the economy, society, and institutional frameworks to foster regional development.
Accordingly, one of the program’s core objectives is to train economists who, grounded in ethical, political, and democratic values that reflect the university’s mission and with a global perspective of the Social Sciences, will be able to:
Analyze and critically assess the principles that interpret the development of society and its future outlook.
Lead economic and social transformation processes aimed at development that is economically viable, socially equitable, and environmentally sustainable.
Understand the universal nature of economic theories and the specificities of their application.
Conduct diagnoses of the Colombian economy at the national, regional, sectoral, and business levels.
Design policies within a global context that contribute to improving the quality of life of the country’s population.

The graduate has a comprehensive, interdisciplinary, and high-quality education, with a solid theoretical, methodological, and technical foundation in economic science. They are distinguished primarily by their critical, analytical, and historical interpretation skills, which enable them to understand and improve their environment and, in turn, contribute positively to the quality of life of the population.
This is a critical professional, sensitive to regional and national issues, with the ability to apply economic analysis tools and interdisciplinary reasoning in the search for consensus-based proposals. Such proposals aim to restore the region’s leadership and lay the groundwork for a secure and reliable future.
